The vision of KALADHAM in Greater Noida was conceived in 1999, when a group of artists met the then CEO, Shri Brajesh Kumar. The meeting concluded with his inspiring words:
“Hum shahar basayenge aur aap sab kalakar milkar usme rang bharenge.”

(“We will build the city, and you artists will fill it with colours.”)

The visionary KALADHAM scheme was launched in 2000 by the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) for artists across India. It offered studio-cum-residence spaces on a first-come, first-served basis, with the eligibility criterion that each allottee must be at least a state-level awardee.

Today, almost all studios at KALADHAM are operational, housing more than 150 practicing artists representing diverse disciplines such as painting, sculpture, photography, theatre, dance, music, and graphic art.

KALADHAM has evolved into a vibrant cultural landmark — truly a “Jewel of GNIDA” — attracting regular visits from students of nearby institutions, art colleges across Delhi-NCR, and art enthusiasts from all walks of life.

It is a matter of immense pride that many of our resident artists also have been honored with National Awards by the Lalit Kala Academy (Ministry of Culture, New Delhi).

Art-related events and gatherings are now a regular feature, frequently taking place in individual studios as well as in open community spaces, making KALADHAM a living canvas of creativity and collaboration.
